Add Tax Controversies To Lohan Troubles Legacy

Barely a week goes by without Lindsay Lohan making news. It would be one thing if sometimes the news was good, but that doesn’t seem to be in the stars for the actress. Washington, D.C.-area readers may have heard that Lohan’s latest concerns include struggles to pay off tax debts the Internal Revenue Service says she owes Uncle Sam.

The exact amount of tax debt outstanding isn’t really clear. News reports indicate that the bill covers multiple years of missed payments dating back to 2009. According to a number of the most recent reports, Lohan has nearly paid off nearly $94,000 she owed for 2009. According to official IRS documents, that loosed a lien that had been imposed.

Lohan apparently has also taken a small bite out of $140,000 in overdue taxes the government says she owes for 2010. But reports say there are still 2011 taxes to be reckoned with.

Adding to the cloud cover over the actress is the possibility of additional jail time. She is due to be back in court next month to face charges of violating probation for a previous conviction. Her attorney says she hasn’t violated her probation, but if the court finds she has, she could be looking at spending much of 2013 behind bars.

Being in the middle of a controversy over federal income tax is not a place anyone wants to be. Working to avoid having the matter get into the courts is advisable. Experienced legal help is a must in order to ensure that the best possible outcome is sought and achieved.
